Madden 23 team ratings: Best Overall, Offense, Defense and Special Teams
Madden Ratings Week has concluded and at the end, we finally learned the ratings for all 32 NFL teams in Madden 23. Now that we know all the best players at each position, let’s take a look at the teams as a whole.
Madden 23 Team Ratings
Interestingly, last year’s Super Bowl Champions, the Los Angeles Rams are not the best-rated team in Madden 23. That honor goes to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who check in with a 92 overall, 85 offense and 92 defense. The Buccaneers are the only team with a 90-plus team overall in Madden 23.
The Buffalo Bills, who came within 13 seconds of going to the AFC Championship game, are the second best-rated team in Madden 23, but boast the best defense rating, tied with the Rams. They also have a 89 offense rating led by Stefon Diggs (95 OVR) and Josh Allen (92 OVR).
What’s especially interesting is that the Los Angeles Rams have three players three of the top six-rated players in the game — Aaron Donald (99 OVR), Cooper Kupp (98 OVR) and Jalen Ramsey (98 OVR) — and still only come in as the third ranked team. The Rams are absolutely loaded with talent on both sides of the ball so to see them with an 88 overall rating is a bit of a head scratcher.
Moving on to last year’s Super Bowl runner-up, EA apparently things the Bengals were overachievers last season because they come into Madden 23 tied with the 10th overall rating. The Bengals have a solid offense and special teams (85 ratings) and have quite a few weapons including Joe Mixon (93 OVR), Joe Burrow (90 OVR), Ja’Marr Chase (87 OVR) and La’el Collins (87 OVR). But their defense leaves a lot to be desired as their best rated player is Jessie Bates III (90 OVR), the only player on defense rated in the 90s.
Now on to the worst team in this year’s Madden, that honor goes to the Houston Texans. The Texans are an absolute train wreck right now with no player rated in the 90s. As a result, the Texans have a game-worst overall 74 rating, including 70 defense rating and 71 offense rating. Laremy Tunsil is the team’s best rated player with an 8 overall, followed by Brandin Cooks at 87 overall. After that, it’s a steep drop to CB Steven Nelson at 80 overall and then it’s into the 70s. There’s not a whole lot to be excited for this year if you’re a Texans fan but after that haul they got for Deshaun Watson, maybe there’s hope for the future — if they don’t mess it up.
