Clash of Clans October 2020 update: Super Minion revealed
The Clash of Clans Autumn 2020 update will introduce another Super Troop: the Super Minion.
Continuing the sneak peeks for the Clash of Clans Autumn 2020 update, Supercell revealed today the Super Minion, another Super Troop. The Super Minion is similar to the Beta Minion over on the Builder Base. It comes with the special ability, Long Shot:
"“Super Minion’s first 5 attacks are fired from longer range and deal extra damage.”"
Before we get into the mechanics, here are the stats:
- Super Cost: 60,000 Dark Elixir (at both levels)
- Favorite Target: Any
- Damage Type: Single target
- Targets: Ground and Air
- Housing Space: 12
- Movement Speed: 16
Level 7
- DPS: 350
- HP: 1,400
- Training Cost: 66 Dark Elixir
- Training Time: 18s
Level 8
- DPS: 375
- HP: 1,500
- Training Cost: 72 Dark Elixir
- Training Time: 18s
The Super Minion requires six times the housing space of a regular minion, but has nearly a 15 times increase in hit points, making it a very tanky air option. It’s certainly an intriguing unit, but we’ll have to see how to best utilize its super ability.
Galadon Gaming has a very in-depth video that shows the Super Minion going up against all types of defenses. Although it’s a developer build and the numbers may change, the Long Shot ability is around 10.5 tiles.

This range allows the Super Minion to take out certain air defenses at a safe distance. The missiles were easily able to destroy an Archer Tower, Air Sweeper, Air Defense while the minion remained untouched. Against the Wizard Tower, the Super Minion was able to get off its five missiles safely but was unable to destroy the building so it had to get closer and within the tower’s attack range. The Super Minion was not safe from the air-targeting crossbow and could not destroy it either.
An interesting thing to note was that in certain instances, the Super Minion fired an extra rocket even when the defensive building was destroyed. This was due to the projectiles speed not reaching the building before the next rocket was fired. This is important because with only five long-range rockets, the fifth one being fired effectively ends the ability.
The Super Minion is the second new Super Troop coming in the Autumn 2020 update. It joins the Super Valkyrie, which has increased health and drops a Rage spell upon death.
This is the fourth sneak peek for the Autumn 2020 update. Supercell has already covered balance changes and quality of life improvements coming with the update.
