Clash of Clans: Is a Spring update coming in March?

Supercell has confirmed that they are working on the next update for Clash of Clans. It will likely be the annual ‘Spring’ update and could arrive this month.

It was around this time last year that Supercell had begun talking about their annual Spring update for Clash of Clans. Sure enough, just two days ago Supercell community manger Darian confirmed that a new update for Clash of Clans is in the works. This is in line with Supercell’s plan to release a major update every quarter.

The last major Clash of Clans update came in December. It introduced Town Hall 13 and with that came a new Hero, defensive building, Siege Machine and more.

Since then, Supercell has only released smaller balance updates. So while we don’t know what will come with the Spring update, we can probably assume it will be another big one. With the Clash of Clans World Championship approaching, we probably won’t see a new Town Hall level in this update as to avoid competitive issues; but, I think some new building and troops levels are in store.

As for when this update could arrive, I think the end of this month or early April is a safe window. Sneak peeks at 2019’s Spring update began in mid-March. The update itself was supposed to release at the end of the month, but a late bug discovery pushed it back until April 1.

Assuming Supercell follows a similar schedule — and their desire to stick to a new update every quarter suggests they will — then the 2020 Spring update will probably arrive at the end of March and no later than early April.

The most recent update for Clash of Clans came in February and was relatively tame, introducing just a few small balance changes for the Spring Trap, Bomb Tower and Cannon. But these updates also sometimes contain some behind-the-scenes tweaks that adjust gameplay elements that we might not notice right away.

I’d expect sneak peeks for the Spring update to begin in just a few weeks. In the meantime, Supercell has a forum post in which they are seeking player feedback for quality of life improvements.
