The Clash of Clans December 2019 update has gone live, introducing Town Hall 13. New buildings, defenses, troops and more have arrived.

Upon logging into Clash of Clans today, you may have noticed a new update today. This would be the December update that Supercell has been teasing for the past few weeks.

If you’ve been keeping up with the sneak peeks, you already know some of the big new features and additions that come with Town Hall 13. But today’s update also arrives with the full patch notes – a complete rundown of the new buildings and troop levels, upgrades and more that come with Town Hall 13.

The highlight with the December update is, of course, Town Hall 13. Previewed earlier this week, the theme of Town Hall 13 is “Dark Elixir and Ice,” so all of the new defenses and buildings have been given a makeover when you upgrade them.

It’s not all about looks though. Town Hall 13 has a new signature defense, the Giga Inferno, which deals damage nearby enemies. At level 3, the Giga Inferno will explode when Town Hall 13 reaches 0 Hit Points, unleashing a devastating freezing blast that temporarily slows down enemies within its range.

The update also introduces a new Hero: the Royal Champion. She comes with a powerful shield attack that targets defensive buildings, regardless of their range. The Scattershot is a new defensive building that fires a projectile that breaks apart and deals damage in a cone radius to enemies behind its initial target. The Siege Barracks is a new Siege Machine that packs its own units inside in addition to ones donated from the Clan. Lastly, for Town Hall 12, a new troop, the Yeti, will become available.

Of course, all of these major features and additions have already been previewed. Today’s update arrives alongside a full set of patch notes. Over on the Supercell forums, you can find specific numbers for each level upgrade for your defenses, buildings, troops, spells, heroes and traps.

Additionally, today’s update comes with some quality of life improvements.  Heroes will now automatically use their ability if they take damage that would kill them so that it’s not wasted if you aren’t paying attention. You are now able to resize Army Camps, the Siege Workshop and the Laboratory to free up some space in your village.

The update also has a round of balance changes for various troops, including increased HP for the Giant, Valkyrie and Miner. The Lava Hound explosion radius has been reduced. The maximum amount of Elixir/Gold/Dark Elixir that you can loot at Town Hall 12 has also been increased. Sadly, today’s update doesn’t restore Global Chat, but instead offers some improvements to the new Clan recruitment tool.

Overall, this is one of the biggest updates Clash of Clans has ever seen. A new Town Hall level always results in some massive, sweeping changes to gameplay, so it will be interesting to see how Clash of Clans evolves after this.
