Marvel Super War is getting another new hero, but still no U.S. release date

Pixie is the latest hero to be announced for Marvel Super War. While she arrives on March 5, there’s still no word on a U.S. or Europe release date.

At this point, I’m starting to think Marvel Super War will never launch in the United States. The Marvel-themed MOBA from developer NetEase launched in select SEA regions back in December of last year. Since then, those of us in the U.S. and Europe have waited patiently for it to arrive in the west. Two months later, NetEase still hasn’t given us a date — or even a timeframe.

As frustration mounts over the unanswered question, NetEase continues to pump out new heroes for the game. The latest to be announced is Pixie.

Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with this Marvel character who first appeared in New X-Men: Academy X #5 in November 2004. As her nickname suggests, Pixie is a hybrid mutant and fairy with the ability to fly and produce hallucinogenic dust from her wings. These cause powerful visual and auditory hallucinations when inhaled or through skin-contact.

NetEase hasn’t revealed Pixie’s abilities, but it will be interesting to see if they coincide with her powers. As a Support class, I could see her hallucinations disrupting enemy abilities.  It sounds like she’ll have at least one ability giving her some sort of scape mechanic, as suggested by her “agility.”

NetEase had been releasing new heroes for Marvel Super War at a pretty fast pace following its launch. However, it has been nearly a month since Vision was added. Pixie will be the sixth new hero added since launch, following Namor, Ghost, Doctor Strange, Ancient One and the aforementioned Vision.

All of these new heroes and constant updates are nice but it does little to appease those of us still waiting for the game. While there is a workaround to get Marvel Super War playable in the United States, not everyone wants to go through the hassle of all of those steps (it’s really not that many, but still). As always, we’ll be sure to let you know when Pixie goes live and if NetEase ever announces a release date.
