Madden 23 player ratings: Best Quarterbacks at launch
Madden Ratings Week concluded today for Madden 23 at launch and EA saved the most important position for last: Quarterback. Over the years, the quarterback position has evolved quite a bit, as mobile quarterbacks offered a dual threat to keep defenses off-balance.
The emergence of players like Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, who can also beat you with their feet as well as their arm, has made the position a much more exciting one to watch. But even with their physical gifts, atop the Madden 23 ratings at launch two familiar faces who beat you with their experience.
Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are the two top-rated quarterbacks in Madden 23 with 97 and 96 overall ratings, respectively. Patrick Mahomes checks in at third with a 95 overall, followed by Josh Allen with a 92 overall and Joe Burrow with a 90 overall to round out the top five. Then we drop into the 80s with guys like Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford.

The ratings are actually quite reflective of the current quarterback landscape around the NFL. We’ve got Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes in a tier of their own, followed by rising stars Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. Then we’ve got the next tier of really good quarterbacks who are certainly capable of winning a championship, and in some cases, already have. But they aren’t quite at that same level.
While many of the ratings reveals have drawn debate, I actually don’t have a problem with these rankings. I’m honestly a bit surprised EA was as unforgiving with these ratings — I mean, no quarterback rated 99? This is the first time since Madden 20 that we haven’t had a quarterback in the 99 Club. And to be honest, it should be like that.
