Genshin Impact: 5 things to prepare for Version 2.1
By Andrew Lin
Genshin Impact’s 2.1 update brings us the next chapter of the Inazuma Archon story, and even graces us with the Electro Archon Raiden Shogun herself along with three other new characters. Here are five things you can do right now to prepare for Genshin Impact 2.1.
Five things to prepare for Version 2.1 you can do right now
1- Complete the Archon Quests
Genshin Impact 2.1 brings the next and final chapter for the Inazuma Archon quests. To play it, you’ll need to complete the previous Archon Quests. You’ll also be able to collect Primogems from the rewards to put towards any of the new Wish banners.
2- Get the Hamayumi Bow
The Hamayumi bow is one of the new craftable weapons introduced with Inazuma, but it’s more elusive than the rest. To get the Blueprint for this weapon, you need to collect Mysterious Conches to open Takashi’s chests on the northern side of Tatarasuna. You can only open one chest a day, and you’ll get the Hamayumi on the seventh day. More conches spawn on the nearby beach daily.
Hamayumi is a great free-to-play option for Aloy and Kujou Sara.
3- Gain Reputation for Electroculus Resonance Stone
You can only gain so much Reputation each week, so get a head start. At level 8, you get the Electroculus Resonance Stone recipe that will help you find all of the Electroculus you may have missed in your travels. They’re not all available now, but they will be when 2.1 drops.
4- Gather Ascension Materials
Three new characters means a lot of resource farming. Some of the Ascension materials you’ll need for Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, Sangonomiya Kokomi and Aloy will become available with the two new islands coming in 2.1, but there’s still a few items you can collect right now to get a head start.
Raiden Shogun needs Handguards to Ascend, so be sure you’re taking out the wandering Samurai mobs and collecting their loot. Her regional speciality isn’t here yet. Kujou Sara needs Dendrobium from Nazuchi Beach and Hilichurl Masks to Ascend. Both need the drops from the upcoming Thunder Manifestation boss.
Kokomi unfortunately has none of her materials available now, but since she’s coming in the second event banner you’ll have some time to farm after 2.1 comes.
For players on Playstation, Aloy is coming in 2.1 as a free five-star character. She needs Crystalline Bloom from the Cryo Hypostasis in Dragonspine as her boss item. You can also start collecting Crystal Marrow from the large serpent bones on Yashiori Island.

5- Artifact and Talent materials
Luckily, all of the Domains for the Talent materials and Artifacts the new characters need are already available. The Artifacts you want will very based on which characters you’re expecting to get, but the Talent Ascension Materials are known already.
Raiden Shogun needs Light, Kujou Sara needs Elegance and Kokomi needs Transience. All of these are obtained at the Violet Court Domain, in between Narukami Island and Tatarasuna. Light is obtained on Monday and Thursday, Elegance comes on Tuesday and Friday and Light is on Wednesday and Saturday. You can get any of them on Sunday.
Aloy, on the other hand, uses Freedom that you can get in Mondstadt from the Forsaken Rift on Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
