NBA 2K is gearing up to announce the cover athletes for NBA 2K21.

I don’t know if we’ll have a 2020-21 NBA season but NBA 2K is pushing forward with its plans for NBA 2K21. Regardless of what happens in real life with the sports, basketball fans will have a new NBA 2K game to play later this year.

Kicking things off will be a reveal for the NBA 2K21 cover athlete. NBA 2K announced that this year’s game will feature three athletes on its cover. Unfortunately, we don’t know who they are yet. The NBA 2K21 cover athletes will be revealed over the course of three days from June 30-July 2. The franchise is using the official NBA 2K TikTok to share its announcements and promises new content reveals each day leading up to June 30.

This will be the first time an NBA 2K game has featured three cover athletes since NBA 2K15, which featured Anthony Davis alongside Stephen Curry and James Harden. With the NBA shifting towards more of a duos league, it’s a bit strange that NBA 2K is reverting back to the “Big 3” for its cover. Last year’s game, of course, also featured Anthony Davis while NBA 2K19 featuring rising star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

More from NBA 2K

As for who will be on the cover of NBA 2K21, New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson figures to be a lock. After sitting out for a good portion of the year due to injury, Williamson, a rookie, made his NBA debut in January. Before the season came to a halt during coronavirus, Williamson was lighting it up on the court and I can’t imagine NBA 2K won’t feature one of the most exciting up-and-coming NBA stars on its cover. As for the other two athletes, let us know who you think deserves to be on the cover of NBA 2K21.

NBA 2K21 doesn’t yet have a release date. The new games typically drop in September or October but with the 2020-21 season likely delayed, it’s unclear what that means for NBA 2K’s release schedule.
