TFT Galaxies: When does the mid-set update arrive?
TFT Galaxies is being extended with a mid-set update that will shake things up in the auto-battler. Here’s when the current set ends and the new one begins.
If you’ve been following our coverage of Teamfight Tactics, you know there are some big changes coming to Riot Games’ auto-battler. The current set, TFT Galaxies, which launched a few months ago, is being extended; however, a mid-set update will shake things up in the form of new champions and traits, gameplay systems, and more.
Most of the changes, like the departure of Valkyries and Voids, arrival of the Astros and Battlecast, and general updates, have already been covered. The big question now is when will the mid-set update arrive?
The current plan, barring any major setbacks, is for part two of TFT Galaxies to arrive with patch 10.12. According to Riot’s patch schedule, this is on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

While not as massive as a launching a brand new set, the mid-set update will still change many aspects of TFT Galaxies. New champions and traits aside, there are some mechanic changes, like no more sellback penalty, that could drastically change the overall strategy and approach.
Because of the scope of this update, Riot is being very transparent with the mid-set update. In addition to TFT lead designer Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer constantly looking for player feedback, Riot has also already launched the 10.12 update on the PBE. This gives players a chance to test out the new champions, traits and systems in place and provide valuable feedback. Official PBE notes for the update are also shared via the game’s Discord channel.
The most divisive change so far has been the removal of the sellback penalty. Players seem divided on the subject, with some arguing it makes the game less skill expressive. With the economy being more forgiving, there’s less risk in buying and selling back units. This is certainly a topic worth revisiting at another time though, once we’ve gone more hands on with the set.
For now, look forward to the TFT Galaxies mid-set update arriving on June 10 with patch 10.12.
