Remember the days when we just pushed the buttons to shoot in basketball games? I mean, you can do it that way in NBA 2K26, but the game will continue to taunt you with talk of Enhanced Rhythm Shooting.

Rhythm shooting has previously mimicked the actual shooting motions of our favorite players, but in NBA 2K26 the shot timing and tempo will actually dictate the shooter's upper body motion. You can possibly rush the shot to escape the contest of a defender closing in. Release the ball too slowly and you'll get a more haphazard motion.

With shot timing, in most competitive modes you'll need excellent timing for a shot to go in the net. Even layups have a timing meter now, as NBA 2K26 tries to give more skilled shooters an opportunity to separate themselves from the pack. From everything I've been reading and hearing online, there will be some growing pains.

We're seeing more big men display an incredible shooting touch these days. I mean, have you seen Victor Wembanyama at work? NBA 2K26 allows you to execute signature go-to post shots by holding the right stick up while in the post. This move can generate all manner of slick post shots including baby hooks, shimmy floaters, and up-and-unders.
