Now that Thanksgiving is over, all eyes are turning towards the holidays. If you play Clash of Clans, December also means a new major update.

Supercell has already started teasing the new December 2023 update for Clash of Clans. The developer posted a brief teaser confirming the impending arrival of Town Hall 16. Many of us didn’t expect TH16 to come until spring 2024, so the fact that it’s coming with this update is a welcomed surprise.

But how long do we have to wait?

Right now, all we can do is predict the date as Supercell hasn’t confirmed exactly when the update will release. Let’s take a look at when of the previous December updates have launched in Clash of Clans:

  • CoC December 2022 update released on December 12
  • CoC December 2021 update released on December 8
  • CoC December 2020 update released on December 10

In recent years, the updates have arrived early in the month, around the second week of December. Sneak peeks mostly run through the first week of December.

Interestingly, the first sneak peek for the 2020 update came around the same time as this year. Despite the early teaser, we actually had to wait a few days until the sneak peeks began in early December. After a few days of sneak peeks, the update arrived on December 10th.

Similarly, sneak peeks for the 2021 and 2022 updates also mostly took place during the first week of December. The calendar falls a little weird this year. The first week of December is just two days long: December 1st and December 2nd — a Friday and a Saturday.

So technically, the update arriving in the second week would still be earlier than usual — sometime between Monday, December 4 and Friday, December 8.

In other words, prepare for Supercell to begin the sneak peeks next week (November 27 – December 1) followed by the release of the actual update sometime shortly afterward the following week. Again, this is purely speculation, but the timeline seems to be in line with Supercell’s previous release cadence.
