It is almost time to crown the NHL 24 cover athlete. NHL 24 is right around the corner, but once again here we are waiting to see who holds the honor this year. We are currently in the midst of a handful of cover athletes being announced for a variety of sports video games. EA Sports announced that Josh Allen would be the cover athlete for Madden 24, EA Sports FC 24 will have 31 different players on its cover, and NBA 2K24 will see the legend Kobe Bryant on its cover. That leaves us with NHL 24.

Each year, there are tons of players that deserve to hold the honor. It is usually someone who either represents the future of hockey or someone who made a major impact in the NHL. There are a variety of different cover athletes chosen for a wide variety of different reasons, but there are five athletes who really stood out above everyone else this season, who really deserve to have such an honor.

Mark Stone

I think it is only fair that we have the Captain of the Vegas Golden Knights on this list. Mark Stone was finally able to bring the Vegas Golden Knights their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. He has a ton of heart and is a great leader in the locker room and on the ice.

Mark Stone didn’t have the greatest of great years, but that is because he was injured most of the season. However, in the 43 regular season games that he played in this year, he still managed to compile 17 goals, 21 assists, for 38 points. That is nearly a point per game player.

When it came to the 2022-2023 NHL postseason, Mark Stone really started to find his grove. In the 2023 playoffs Mark Stone recorded 11 goals and 13 assists for a total of 24 points, in only 22 games. If Mark Stone wasn’t healthy for the 2023 Playoffs, you can argue that the Golden Knights may not have won the Stanley Cup. Regardless, being the Captain of a team winning their first ever Stanley Cup in franchise history would definitely represent the cover of NHL 24 very well.
