EA officially unveiled the first details for Madden 24. As rumored, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is this year’s cover athlete. He is the first Bills player to ever be featured on the cover of a Madden game and, quite honestly, he’s earned it.

Now onto the more important things like release date, platforms and overall game. Today’s announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer along with top-level gameplay details.

Madden 24 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC will feature the next evolution of FieldSENSE and debut the all-new SAPIAN Technology. FieldSENSE was first introduced with Madden 23 as a buzzword to represent authentic player behavior and game day environments. SAPIEN, however, is brand to the franchise and, according to EA, makes characters more human and anatomically correct, improving authentic athletic motion and with FieldSENSE, creates true-to-life movement patterns on the field.” As in the past, features are exclusive to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions of the game.

The trailer certainly looks impressive, but they usually do. The question will be whether these new player movements actually perform as intended in the game. Madden has had an unfortunate history of frustrating bugs and glitches that we hope have been ironed out in this year’s game.

As far as game modes, Madden 24 will see the return of Superstar Mode along with mini-games on current-gen systems. Additionally, Madden 24 will feature cross-play support and parity between all three systems in head-to-head and certain online multiplayer modes.

Madden 24 is set to release on August 18. There are two versions of the game available, the Standard Edition ($69.99) and the Deluxe Edition ($99.99), with the latter guaranteed three day early access along with some other additional bonuses.

Although current-gen systems seem to be the focus of Madden 24, the game will also be available on PS4 and Xbox One. There was no mention of a Nintendo Switch version.
