God of War Ragnarok has been out for a while now, and there is a very good chance that you have beaten the game and are now focused on acquiring collectibles. For quite some time, we knew that New Game Plus would be headed to the game, we just didn’t know exactly when that would be. All of the answers on New Game Plus in God of War Ragnarok have been revealed and it has us excited.

If you have been waiting for New Game Plus, the wait is over! Santa Monica Studios, over on PlayStation’s official blog, has announced that New Game Plus is playable now and have provided all the details that we need to know about what New Game Plus will actually mean for gamers in God of War Ragnarok.

When you start a New Game Plus save file, you will be happy to know that your equipment, weapons, and skills will all carry over. This includes the Draupnir Spear as well, so you won’t have to worry about acquiring anything major from your original playthrough.

New Armor

You will also notice that Kratos will have some new armor equipped as well. The Armor of the Black Bear will automatically be equipped at the start of New Game Plus to make sure that Kratos can survive the cold frost. The Armor of the Black Bear has been one of the most requested additions that gamers wanted to be added and now that request has been granted.

Some other Armor Sets that will be added are the Spartan Armor, Ares Armor, and Zues Armor. The Spartan Armor Set can be purchase from Huldra Brothers’ Shop. The Ares Armor Set can also be purchased from Huldra Brothers’ Shop. However, the Zues Armor Set cannot be purchased. Instead, you must defeat Gná the Valkyrie Queen and complete certain Remnants of Asgard on a New Game Plus save file. Each of these Armor Sets has their pros and cons, but they all will provide Kratos with a very nice unique look.

New Level Cap

One of the biggest features of New Game Plus is the increased level cap. With an increased level cap, comes stronger enemies. You will now have the ability to convert all your level 9 equipment in “Plus” versions of those items. The reason why you would do this is so that you can further progress your equipment to even higher levels than they already were. You will also earn a Gilded Coin when you convert your equipment. The Gilded Coin can be used to purchase new enchantments from the shop.

New Enchantments

If that Gilded Coin is burning a hole in your pocket, you might want to spend it on some new Engraving and Badge Enchantments that can be found in the shop. One of the new Enchantments allows you to basically combine Armor Perks. These new Enchantments will offer many new combinations for gamers to create and make the possibilities virtually endless.

Speaking of Enchantments, Berserker Souls will also drop new Enchantments on New Game Plus. These will boost your stats. On the other hand, Burdens will also be added which give you negative effects making your experience even harder than it needs to be

Other changes

The Sparring Arena has been expanded. You will have tons of new options of playable characters along with tons of new enemies to face off with. Also, some of the enemies and bosses have been tweaked slightly just so that New Game Plus has a little bit of a more challenging feel to it. After all, New Game Plus isn’t meant to be easy.

Finally, if you would like to experience God of War Ragnarok in an old style Black and White film, you can do that. Once you beat the game for the very first time, you will unlock Black and White Render Mode. This turns your entire experience into a Black and White experience. If this is something that you are interested in trying out, this option can be found under the Graphics and Camera Settings Menu.
