Madden 22: Top 10 Cornerbacks revealed
As the NFL has transitioned more into a passing league, there’s increased pressure on your defense’s secondary. As we saw with the Madden 22 recent ratings reveal, there are a ton of talented wide receivers, including the 99 rated Davante Adams.
That’s why guys like Jalen Ramsey and Stephon Gilmore are so incredibly valuable. They can stand alone on their defensive island and shut down top receivers with little help needed, freeing up your safeties. The cornerback position is becoming increasingly important to a defense, up there with pass rushers.
So who are the best cornerbacks in Madden 22?
- Jalen Ramsey (Los Angeles Rams) – 99 overall
- Stephon Gilmore (New England Patriots) – 97 overall
- Jaire Alexander (Green Bay Packers) – 95 overall
- Tre’Davious White (Buffalo Bills) – 93 overall
- Marlon Humphrey (Baltimore Ravens) – 92 overall
- Xavien Howard (Miami Dolphins) – 91 overall
- James Bradberry (New York Giants) – 90 overall
- Denzel Ward (Cleveland Brown) – 89 overall
- Kendall Fuller (Washington Football Team) 89 overall
- Darius Slay (Philadelphia Eagles) – 88 overall
- Marcus Peters (Baltimore Ravens) – 88 overall
- Byron Jones (Miami Dolphins) – 88 overall
Jalen Ramsey was revealed earlier as the fourth member in Madden 22’s 99 Club. The question then was who would be the second best-rated cornerback in the game. Many lobbied for Jaire Alexander, but it looks like EA gave the edge to Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Gilmore was last year’s top cornerback with a 99 overall and at a 97 at launch, it’s possible he could reach that again. However, he’ll need to return to his 2019 form. Although he’s not quite at Ramsey’s level, Gilmore is second in the game in man coverage (98) and zone coverage (96).

As for Jaire Alexander, the second-year player has jumped five overall points from when we last saw him in Madden 21. He’s third in man coverage (97) and zone (95).
Dolphins veteran Xavien Howard, who I thought had a chance for the 99 Club, is actually the sixth best-rated cornerback. Howard led the league in interceptions (10) and passes defended (20) last season, but he hasn’t been a consistent shut down corner his entire career. Howard boasts some impressive catching (85) and awareness (97) but he’s 10th in man (88) and ninth in zone (90).
We’re nearing the end of Madden 22 Reveal Week with one last position left to be revealed, and arguably the most important one: quarterback. Who do you think will top the ratings in Madden 22?
