As we get ready to turn the calendar page, we’re saying goodbye to eight games at the end of June, but we’re also welcoming in the first wave of new games for July. Five new games are arriving on the subscription service on July 1.

As usual, it’s a nice assortment of titles that span various genres. There’s nothing particularly mind-blowing, but one of the benefits of Game Pass is discovering new games you may not have previously considered on their own.

Most of the new games arriving will be available across Microsoft’s suite of Xbox Game Pass platforms: Cloud, Console and PC. Take a look at what’s coming on July 1:

  • Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Cloud)
  • Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling (Cloud, Console, PC)
  • Gang Beasts (Cloud, Console, PC)
  • Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars (Cloud, Console, PC)
  • Limbo (Cloud, Console, PC)

Limbo is definitely the must-play in this first wave, although there are a couple of other games that look fun as well. Limbo, of course, is the award-winning puzzle platformer that originally released in 2010. The 2D side-scroller was praised for its brilliant puzzle design, immersive visuals and sound, and captivating narrative.

If you can’t tell by the trailer, it’s an indie title, developed by Playdead.  I personally love the game’s use of black-and-white tones and lighting and minimal ambient sounds to create an eerie, haunting atmosphere.

And on the other end of the spectrum we have Gang Beasts, an wild and silly competitive multiplayer party game. Hazardous environments, slapstick melee combat and ridiculous-looking characters — this game was meant for memes and hilarious clips to be shared on social media.

Those are probably my two must-play picks for this first wave of games. Remember this batch is in addition to the games that actually already arrived on Xbox Game Pass towards the end of June: Worms Rumble, Iron Harvest and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
