Madden 22: You may want to wait to start Franchise mode
Madden 22 is set to launch on August 20 of this year. And with all of the long-awaited improvements coming to Franchise mode, you may be tempted to jump right into the mode. But hold on.
While Franchise mode will see a number of fan-requested improvements in Madden 22 — including the addition of a full coaching staff, weekly strategy decisions and an all-new season engine — one particular, and very important feature won’t be available until September.
EA has confirmed that the revamped scouting functionality won’t be available in the game at launch. Instead, it will be part of a Live Service update that’s targeted for September, meaning it could come then or it could also be delayed.
Even if it does arrive in September, you’ll want to wait to start your Franchise until then. That’s because in order to access this improved scouting feature, you’ll be required to restart your Franchise after download the update.
We don’t have many details regarding scouting improvements, only that it’s a “significant structural overhaul” of the crucial franchise piece. Scouting functionality has been featured in previous Madden titles to date, but has been greatly watered down to the point where it’s not even fun, or remotely interesting. There’s no sort of strategy element either.

Madden 22’s Scouting overall will address that. You’ll now have a personnel department and a full scout team for different regions in the United States. Based on the teaser images EA has shared, it appears there will be a National Scout for the entire country along with area scouts for the West, Central, North East and South East regions. Additionally, scouts appear to have a position expertise along with an efficiency boost when scouting specific positions.
It looks like the revamped Scouting in Madden 22 will add a new layer of depth and it seems like one that you won’t want to miss out on. It’s unclear if Madden 22 will launch with the old scouting system in place until the update arrives or if scouting just won’t be available in Franchise mode until the September Title update arrives.
