After weeks of leaks, EA is finally ready to lift the lid on Battlefield 6, or whatever the next mainline entry in the first-person shooter franchise will be called. Anticipation is high leading up to the June 9th reveal, but what can we realistically expect to see?

The Battlefield reveal is actually taking place more than a month prior to EA Play Live, Electronic Arts’ annual summer showcase. Because of that, I think EA will still to top-level details.

The reveal trailer will show us the setting and time period for Battlefield 6, and also give us our first look at how the series is evolving for next-gen consoles. The Battlefield games are usually visually stunning, but I’m interested to see how next-gen hardware will elevate things like environmental destruction, dynamic lighting and things of that nature.

I’m also curious to see how Battlefield improves from a gameplay perspective. A month ago, DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson called this year’s game a “bold step” for the Battlefield franchise.

He promised:

"“Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before.”"

Battlefield games are all about large-scale warfare. Hopefully, the trailer provides us with some insight on just how big the battles will be.

I think we’ll have to wait for EA Play Live for specific details and a more in-depth look at actual multiplayer gameplay. I think the reveal trailer will provide us with a cinematic look at Battlefield 6’s gameplay, but live gameplay will probably have to wait until the July event.

I do think we will get a firm release date, however. Battlefield games typically launch in October or November, just in time for the holiday rush, and I think we can expect the same for Battlefield 6.

I think we’ll get a fair amount of our questions asked with this reveal event. We’ll get a good sense of what Battlefield will offer on next-gen consoles.
