It’s been a relatively slow start to the year for games on the Xbox Series X, but things started to pick up in April with the release of Outriders and MLB The Show 21. The momentum continues in May as several notable titles are launching for Xbox Series X in the coming days and weeks ahead.

While not every game is being developed with a focus on next-gen, even Xbox One games are playable on Xbox Series X|S via smart delivery. For that, we’ve made a note as to which games are technically releasing on Xbox One, but playable on Xbox Series X|S.

  • Skate City (Xbox One) – May 6
  • Resident Evil Village – May 7
  • Hood: Outlaws & Legends – May 10
  • Mass Effect: Legendary Edition – May 14
  • Subnautica: Below Zero – May 14
  • Leisure Suite Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice – May 18
  • Just Die Already (Xbox One) – May 20

As you can see, we’ve got quite a few games coming to Xbox Series X|S next month. For me, the highlight is Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a complete remaster of BioWare’s beloved sci-fi trilogy. The first Mass Effect released all the way back in 2007 exclusively on Xbox 360 and while it has since been ported to other platforms, there’s something nostalgic about being able to experience it again on Xbox Series X with improved graphics and gameplay. Replaying this trilogy is going to be quite a trip down memory lane.

Also coming next month is Resident Evil Village, the latest installment in Capcom’s action/survival horror franchise. Resident Evil Village picks up a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7 and follows protagonist Ethan Winters who gets kidnapped by Chris Redfield and awakens in a mysterious European village governed by four mutant lords. A demo for Resident Evil Village will be available for Xbox on May 1st, ahead of the game’s May 7th release.
