Clash of Clans Spring 2021 update: Hero Pets coming with Town Hall 14

Remember when Supercell posted that April Fools’ Day prank about ClashPetZ? Turns out it wasn’t a complete joke after all. Today’s Clash of Clans sneak peek — the final for the Spring 2021 update — revealed Hero Pets, mighty companions that assist your Heroes in battle.

The reveal of Hero Pets doesn’t come as a complete surprise as various leaks hinted at the new building. But today’s announcement reveals the four Hero Pets you’ll be able to train in the Pet House.

The Pet House becomes available when your Village is upgraded to Town Hall 14. There are four levels to the Pet House with each level unlocking access to a new Hero Pet. The four Hero Pets are: L.A.S.S.I, a mechanical dog-like pet; Electro Owl, a superconductive bird of prey; Mighty Yak; a menacing monstrosity; and Unicorn, a prancing healing pony.

Here are the various stats, upgrade costs and times and pet unlocks for each level of the Pet House:

Supercell has chosen to leave the specifics of each pet up to some of the most prominent Clash of Clans players, but the gist of these new creatures is that each Pet has its own unique ability that can aid the Hero it’s assigned to.

L.A.S.S.I

Available at Pet House Level 1, L.A.S.S.I is a pretty straightforward pet. It can jump over walls and attack anything within 2.5 tiles of the Hero it is assigned to. I’m going to assume it has fairly high health to serve as a sort of tank for the Hero.

Electro Owl

We actually got our first glimpse of the Electro Owl in the April Fools’ Day prank video. This superconductive bird of prey is available at Pet House Level 2 and has the High Voltage ability which shoots a ranged lightning attack that chains and bounces once to a nearby target. The Electro Owl will focus on the same troop or building as the Hero’s target.

Mighty Yak

The Mighty Yak becomes available at Pet House Level 3. This horned monstrosity is an absolute bulldozer, using its Wall Buster ability to pave a path through any walls that stand in its way. The Mighty Yak deals extra damage to walls that are within 7 tiles of the Hero. It also does splash damage.

Unicorn

The fourth and final pet is the Unicorn, available at Pet House Level 4. The Unicorn is a personal healer for the assigned Hero. The Personal Healer ability regenerates health for the healer over time.

All four Heroes can have a pet assigned to them; however, only one pet can be assigned to each hero at a time. You can mix and match as you see fit, which unlocks tons of different attack strategies — although I’m sure there will be meta strategies that maximized the efficiency of Hero and Pet pairings. Still, the addition of Hero Pets is a wonderful new feature for Town Hall 14.

This was the final sneak peek for the Spring 2021 update, which means we can probably expect it to arrive early next week. Unfortunately, it also means the update won’t bring any new Troops or Spells. But with the new Town Hall 14 and all the troop and building upgrades that come with it, I’m sure players will have plenty to keep them busy until the next major update arrives in the Summer.
