Clash of Clans Spring 2021 update likely coming in April: What to expect
Earlier this month, I began talking about the next major update for Clash of Clans. Based on Supercell’s goal of releasing a new update every quarter, Clash of Clans is due for its next update this Spring.
Now Spring runs from March through June this year but as I pointed out, the first update of the year typically arrives at the end of March or the beginning of April. Last year’s update launched on March 30, so I figured Supercell would follow a similar pattern and estimated this year’s update would arrive around the same time.
Well, apparently I missed the AMA hosted by Supercell Community Manager Darian. He revealed last month that the Spring 2021 update is on track for an April release. Here’s his specific quote:
"One things no one asked is WHEN the next update is. We’re aiming for an April release for the first major update of the year, but we’re not ready to share exactly what the content will be."
The Spring 2019 update released on April 1, so it’s not like this extra wait is unprecedented.

As for the contents of the update, well, no one knows for sure what it will entail. Honestly, I don’t expect too much in terms of major new content with this update. We’ll likely get a few new Super Troops to keep combat interesting as well as some new troop and building levels. And we’ll probably get the usual balance adjustments and quality of life improvements.
We do know that Town Hall 14 is expected to arrive at some point this year, but I don’t think it will come with this update. What I would like to see is Supercell introduce a new Town Hall weapon and then give players the option to choose which one to equip. The Giga Tesla is unlocked at Town Hall 12 and is upgraded to the Giga Inferno at Town Hall 13. It’s unclear if Town Hall 14 will have a similar weapon as Supercell is concerned about it becoming too overpowered.
That said, the Spring 2020 update was the first to introduce the Super Troops into the game, so maybe we get a new type of troop this year, in addition to some new Super versions of previous units.
