Ruined King: A League of Legends Story release date and platforms
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story has been somewhat delayed. Here’s what we know about its release date and platform availability.
Over the past few years, League of Legends developer Riot Games has started to branch out from its popular MOBA. With a roster of over 150 champions and some rich lore, there’s tons of source material for Riot to expand upon with new gameplay experiences. This is exactly why Riot Forge was formed in late 2019.
Riot Forge was announced with two games in development: Ruined King: A League of Legends Story and CONV/RGENCE: A League of Legends Story. Much of 2020 was dedicated to the development of these games with plans to at least launch Ruined King in early 2021. Unfortunately, that no longer appears to be the case.
While some great progress has been made on Ruined King — the first official gameplay trailer was released two weeks ago — it appears the game is not quite ready for its initial “early 2021” launch.

The good news is Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will still arrive at some point in 2021 — just not “early 2021.” In other words, expect a summer or fall release for the highly anticipated game.
As for the cause of the delay, it seems that Airship Syndicate — which is a fairly small indie developer — just needs more time for adjustments.
“We’re excited for you to experience the fantastic adventure Airship Syndicate has created with Ruined King,” Riot wrote. “And we want to ensure we support their vision and give you an awesome game.”
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is set to launch on consoles and PC. It’s listed for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. We don’t know what sort of added benefits there will be to playing on current-gen consoles versus last-gen. It’s also coming to Steam and Epic Games on PC.
As a fan of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, I’m excited to see experience a new method of storytelling and gameplay in this wonderful universe. Ruined King already looks like a solid turn-based RPG, so I can only imagine this extra time will help polish some of the mechanics.
