For the fourth sneak peek of the Clash of Clans December 2020 update, Supercell has revealed the Ice Hound. read on to learn more about this Super Troop.

Remember when Supercell teased a “chill wind is rising” in Clash of Clans? Well, it wasn’t a Super Troop variant of the Ice Golem but instead the Lava Hound’s “cooler” big brother, the Ice Hound Super Troop.

As the super version of the Lava Hound, you can unlock the Ice Hound at Town Hall 12 once your Lava Hound is level 5 in the Laboratory. Here are the Ice Hound stats and remember, as with all Super Troops, the level of your Ice Hound is reflective of the level of your Lava Hound.

Level 5

  • 10 Damage per Second
  • 3.5 sec Freeze Time when destroyed
  • 9,500 Hit Points
  • 840 DE Training Cost
  • 6m 40s Training Time
  • 10 Ice Pups Spawned

Level 6

  • 15 Damage per Second
  • 4.25 sec Freeze Time when destroyed
  • 10,000 Hit Points
  • 1,000 DE Training Cost
  • 6m 40s Training Time
  • 12 Ice Pups Spawned

Comparing the Hounds, the Ice Hound boasts 2,000 more Hit Points than the Lava Hound but spawns 6 fewer units when destroyed. The Ice Hound also requires 40 Housing Space versus the Lava Hound’s 30. The trade-off, however, is Lava Hound’s special ability, “Best Served Cold.” The 4-second freeze time in addition to the slow while attacking is a massive bonus.

"“Attacks from Ice Hound and Pups slow down their enemies. Upon defeat, the Ice Hound freezes its surroundings.”"

Both units spawn Pups when defeated and their stats are identical.

Ice Pup Stats

  • 35 Damage per Second
  • 50 Hit Points
  • 32 Movement Speed
  • Ice Pup attacks will slow down their targets similar to the Ice Wizard and Ice Golem

Judo Sloth posted another wonderful preview, showing the Lava Hound and Ice Hound going up against an Air Defense. The Ice Hound not only has more health points, but it survives a lot longer because of its freezing effect. If used with Balloons, you can get two times the distractions; the freezing effect and Ice Pups.

More from App and Gaming News

It seems like the Ice Hound is best used with Balloons (aka LavaLoon). You’ll want to make sure you send in your Ice Hound first and the goal is to make sure it pops to get the freezing effect. Because of this, and the Housing Space requirement, it’s recommended you only bring about two Ice Hounds with you on an attack.

The Ice Hound is easily one of the better, or at least more intriguing, Super Troops to be introduced to Clash of Clans. And that’s saying a lot considering yesterday we saw the reveal of the Super Wizard, another Super Troop with an intriguing chain attack mechanic.
