A new Super Troop is coming with the Clash of Clans December 2020 update. Check out what we know about the new Super Wizard.

A new sneak peek for the upcoming Clash of Clans December 2020 update has revealed a new Super Troop. The Super Wizard is more than just a glorious mane of hair. He conjures up a powerful chain electric-like fireball that bounces to multiple targets.

Once you reach Town Hall 12 and have your Wizard to level 9, you can boost to the Super Wizard for 25,000 Dark Elixir.  Here are his stats:

Level 9

  • 220 Damage Per Second
  • 450 Hit Points
  • 10.5K Elixir Training Cost
  • 1m 15s Training Time

Level 10

  • 240 Damage Per Second
  • 500 Hit POints
  • 11.5K Elixir
  • 1m 15s Training Time

The thing that separates the Super Wizard from the regular wizard is a Chain Magic attack that bounces up to 10 times to different targets as long as the targets are in range of the original target.

As Judo Sloth notes, only the initial strike does 100 percent damage. The secondary bolts do 60 percent damage. The bouncing chain travels for one tile and walls do not affect it.

Interestingly, while it says the bolt bounces up to 10 times, it’s mathematically impossible to have 10 buildings in range of the initial target. So the AoE attack comes more in handy for Clan Castle troops and Skeleton Traps. As shown in gameplay videos, the Super Wizard is easily able to dispose of Skeleton Traps with one strike.

The Super Wizard’s chain effect is definitely an interesting mechanic but it doesn’t seem overpowered simply because of the range limitation. It seems like more of a utility troop to help clear pathways for other troops.

And remember, with the December update, you can now boost up to two Super Troops at a time, meaning you can combine the utility of the Super Wizard with the power of another Super Troop. The reason for this previous change was to encourage more flexibility and creativity in attacks. This certainly seems to achieve that goal.

The December update is expected to arrive next week but Supercell’s post suggests there’s at least one more sneak peek coming tomorrow. “A chill wind is rising,” the developer teases, which many interpreted to mean the Super Ice Golem is coming.
