Walmart Black Friday: PS5, Xbox Series X consoles available online only
A leaked Black Friday ad for Walmart teases that PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X consoles will be available, but only online.
If you missed out on preorders or the launch of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you’re not out of luck quite yet. Retailers will likely be resupplying stock throughout the holiday season, including just in time for Black Friday. Walmart hasn’t officially announced its Black Friday sale but leaked ads for the big shopping day reveal that the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will be available.
According to the leaked ad, Walmart’s Black Friday sale begins on Wednesday, November 25, at 7:00 p.m. ET. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Black Friday deals — including for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X — will be available online only.
The ad specifically highlights the standard PlayStation 5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive for $499, so it’s unclear if the retailer will also be selling the $399 PS5 Digital Edition. The ad also only lists the Xbox Series X console for $499 and not the slightly less powerful but affordable Xbox Series S ($399). Hopefully, both models for each console will be available.
In addition to the consoles, Walmart promises various PS5 and Xbox Series X accessories and peripherals, including:
- DualSense Wireless Controller – $69.96
- PlayStation Plus 12-Month Membership Card – $44.96 (was $59.96)
- Turtle Beach Recon 70 Headset – $23 (normally $39.95)

- Xbox Series X controller – $39
- Xbox 3-Month Ultimate Game Pass – $22.88 (was $44.88)

Because both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are new consoles — having just launched this month — it’s doubtful that Walmart or any other retailer will feature any steep discounts this Black Friday. That said, you will be able to find PS4 and Xbox One games, many of which are playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility, on sale. The ad lists dozens of discounted games available for various price tiers ranging from $15 to $30.
Walmart’s Black Friday sale begins on November 25 at 7:00 p.m. ET, but it’s unclear if the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be sold at specific times, similar to how the launch was handled. If Walmart doesn’t work out, Best Buy has also promised a limited number of PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles to be available on Black Friday. You can bet other retailers, like GameStop, Amazon and Target will also have some available.
