When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will release on Xbox One and PC
Thanks to a timed exclusivity partnership between Sony and Activision, Xbox One and PC gamers will have to wait for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered launched on PlayStation 4 last week, giving gamers a chance to relive one of the best storylines in the franchise with improved visuals, remastered audio and more. The release of the remastered campaign had been expected but what came as a bit of a surprise was its release only on PlayStation 4.
The good news is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will be coming to Xbox One and PC as well, but when? The press release simply said a later date, but according Infinity Ward’s tweet and the Call of Duty website, Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will launch on Xbox One and PC (via Blizzard Battle.net) on April 30.
Play alongside Soap, Shepherd, Ghost and other familiar faces as you fight back against Vladimir Makarov, the Inner Circle, and other unforeseen foes.

Honestly, I really shouldn’t have been taken aback by the timed exclusivity. Since 2015, Sony and Activision have had some sort of console exclusivity on PlayStation. Usually it’s timed exclusivity and only really applies to DLC or add-ons, meaning other console players only have a to wait a period of time (usually about 30 days). This seems to be the case for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.
What will be interesting to see as we head into the next generation of consoles is if Sony will retain its exclusivity deal with Activision, or if Microsoft will try and swoop in and try to work out a deal for the Xbox Series X. Part of the deal with Activision also included Destiny which, of course, is no longer part of Activision’s catalog after the publisher ended its partnership with developer Bungie.

In a perfect world, I’m sure most gamers wouldn’t want to see any sort of exclusivity from consoles. I can’t imagine doing away completely with these sort of console perks, but at least we’ve come to a place where we can at least play cross-platform between PlayStation, Xbox and PC (and sometimes Nintendo).
