Sony has launched a PlayStation 5 subsection of their site so you can explore the PS5, but there’s just one problem; there’s nothing to see yet.

Sony has moved one step closer to the launch of its next-gen console. An official PS5 subsection of the PlayStation website has gone live, giving interested gamers the chance to learn more about the PlayStation 5.

Unfortunately, there’s not much to explore right now. The website currently only features a reminder of the “holiday 2020” launch window along with a paragraph of text that offers no real details.

"We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation. Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games."

More from PlayStation 4

It’s true that Sony has shared some details regarding the PlayStation 5. We know it’ll use a solid-state drive (SSD) for quicker loading and that the controller (the DualShock 5) will feature adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. It’s exciting stuff, for sure, but much about the PlayStation 5 is still being kept a secret.

We don’t know what the actual console itself will look like. We don’t know what games will be available at launch or if it’ll support backward compatibility (though we assume it will). We don’t know when it’ll actually release. Perhaps, most importantly, we don’t know how much the PlayStation 5 will cost.

Hopefully, we’ll find out soon though. Maybe the launch of this website is an indication that Sony is, indeed, planning to host its PlayStation Meeting. It’s been long-rumored that the company will unveil the PlayStation 5 and provide all of the details we want to know at an event in February. However, Sony has not yet sent out invitations (at least not that we know of).

I can’t help but feel that this jump into the next-generation feels more like a hesitant step that not many want to take. It’s so underwhelming at the moment, mostly because of how little we know about the new systems. Details have been drip fed to us at a snail’s pace or, in PlayStation’s case, not at all. How can we get excited about something that we don’t know anything about?
