New Motor Gliders touch down in PUBG for weekend trial
By Ty Brody
PUBG players can take to the air with an all-new Motor Glider during this weekend’s PUBG Labs event. Say farewell to bridge campers, hard shifts, and roadblocks!
This weekend, players will get a chance to test an all-new vehicle arriving in the battlegrounds during a three-day test run in PUBG Labs. The Motor Glider introduces the first vertical gameplay aspect to PUBG since its launch, and if it returns to live servers for all public matches in the future, it could possibly signal a shift in an outworn meta.
The Motor Glider will be playable in PUBG Labs, a recently added game mode that allows PUBG to test out unique and experimental features before moving forward with them onto live servers. The PUBG Labs event will only run through December 22, so hop in-game and test them out for yourself some time this weekend.
The biggest questions I had when this vehicle was rumored last week included, What is its maximum altitude? And, How frequent will the vehicle spawn throughout the map?
Turns out, there isn’t a maximum altitude for the glider, but there is a max to the amount of gasoline the vehicle can carry which would eventually set a max altitude. Immediately, I imagine players using everything in the glider’s tank to climb miles above the map, and it’s there that one of two things will occur, the glider is either going to do what it’s built to do and glide down safely or it’s going to plummet, creating some of the greatest streamer clips we’ve ever seen.

Once you find a glider at one of the ten spawn locations, lift-off by reaching a speed of 65 KM/H and pressing the S key to tilt the glider. From there you’re on your own, but keep an eye on your gasoline meter and you should be fine.
The glider can seat two players, one pilot, and a passenger that can fire any weapon as well as toss throwables. I would assume exiting the vehicle has remained the same, so be sure you don’t fat-finger the F button while raining down grenades from above.
Unfortunately, this PUBG Labs event will end on December 22 at 11 PM PST, earlier than necessary in my opinion. The three-day test was too short when PUBG Labs was introduced with ‘PGC Mode’, and it’s especially too short with the holidays approaching. Moving forward, I hope PUBG considers extending these events for a week at a minimum to allow more players the opportunity to test it out.
