Fortnite Season 10’s first teaser is an image of Dusty Depot, suggesting we will be traveling back to the past in the upcoming season.

Initially released back in 2017, Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale has grown to become one of, if not the biggest games in the industry. And over the course of its nine seasons, it has changed a ton.

Now, as we approach the 10th season, it looks like Epic Games is planning to blast us back into the past. The first teaser for Season 10 has been published and it features an image of the Dusty Depot warehouses. The accompanying text reads: “Think back,” suggesting a return to the past.

Despite being one of the world’s most popular games, not everyone who is playing now experienced Fortnite in its early seasons. For many players, they may have never played the game when Dusty Depot existed.

Dusty Depot stood proud for three seasons before a giant meteor fell near the warehouses at the start of Season 4, completely destroying the blue warehouse and partially destroying the grey and red warehouses. The area was renamed Dusty Divot with a research facility built in the giant crater. It was also home to purple space rocks called Hop Rocks, which granted increased mobility and jumping and removed fall damage for a short period when consumed.

Dusty Divot was abandoned in Season 5 and overgrown with vegetation. The research buildings still stood, however. The former warehouses were converted into diners and tourist attractions and slightly changed throughout Seasons 6-9.

If the Season 10 teaser is any indication, Dusty Depot and the warehouses will be returning. Exactly we’ll be blasted back to the past remains to be seen, but The Final Showdown — the recent in-game event featuring a massive battle between the mecha robot and ice monster — resulted in a mysterious orb floating above Loot Lake. It’s believed this orb will explode, creating some sort of time travel effect that sends us back to the original map.

If that’s the case, we can expect more original locations to return in addition to Dusty Depot. Perhaps Moisty Mire or Wailing Woods will return as well. Maybe Neo Tilted will be converted back to Tilted Towers. It’s unclear how far back Epic will go with the map reversion, or if they’ll take a little bit from each season and inject it into Season 10.

Fortnite‘s map has evolved quite a bit since the beginning, so Season 10 seems to present a wonderful opportunity to go back and reintroduce some of these once familiar locations, that fans might’ve hated to see go. If anything, it can act as a nice reset for Epic to undo anything that’s currently not popular with players.

Perhaps in addition to new locations, we’ll also see the return of some older weapons that have since been Vaulted.

Fortnite Season 10 is expected to go live on August 1, so it’s likely we’ll get a few more teasers before then. Of course, it’s only a matter of time before data miners looking into the game’s files and spoil these changes ahead of time.

In the meantime, there are still a few more days left of Season 9, so this is your last chance to finish any challenges, collect any Fortbytes and unlock any Battle Pass tiers.
