The Division 2 PC players will get their first look at Title Update 5 and Episode 1 when it goes live on the PTS next week.

In this week’s State of the Game for The Division 2, Ubisoft announced that Title Update 5 along with Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts will hit the Public Test Server for PC on July 2.

Not all of Episode 1‘s content will go live next week, however, as Ubisoft is releasing it in stages. This will allow the developer to test the specific content and pinpoint the cause of any bugs that may arise, rather than releasing it all at once and having to first narrow down the reasons.

Detailed during E3, D.C. Outskirts will take players outside of the city and into the woodlands for an attack on a presidential compound. The episode will introduce the Washington National Zoo as the setting for the next mission, where players will hunt down the surviving Outcast leader.

Also coming is the brand new Expedition mode, an entirely new gameplay experience that will take “exploration, investigation, and logic to uncover the fate of a military convoy gone dark.”

As mentioned countless times before, Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts is the first of three planned post-launch expansions for The Division 2all of which will be released for free within the 12-or-so monthsEpisode 2 Pentagon: The Last Castle will arrive in the fall and feature The Division 2‘s second 8-player raid (Operation Dark Hours is the first). Episode 3 Brooklyn: Homecoming is slated for early 2020 and will take players back to the familiar stomping grounds of New York City.

Next. The Division 2 second raid and a return to NYC confirmed in Episodes 2 and 3. dark

Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts will seemingly be part of the Title Update 5, which will release on the PTS next week as well. Ubisoft provided some notes as to what sort of changes will be coming in Title Update 5 on Monday, but it should be noted that nothing is actually finalized.

That said, here are some of the highlights for what players can look forward to on the PTS on Monday (per Reddit):

  • All blueprints shared across all sources
  • Heroic Boses dropping Exotics
  • Crafting Station upgraded to Gear Scroe 500
  • A flashlight attachment for pistoles
  • Two new weapons: Carbine 7 Assault Rifle and Stoner LMB (both with new Talents)
  • New Exotic BTSU (Black Tusk Special Unit) Gloves

Ubisoft notes that the gloves are specialized on hybrid Skill Builds with a particular focus on offensive and crowd control combos.

And yes, Ubisoft is aware of player frustration regarding loot drops. They acknowledge the drops “are not as satisfying as they should be” and that the current gear system “isn’t in a good place.” They are working on it, but it doesn’t appear we’ll see any improvements with Title Update 5, at least not in the first testing phase anyway.

Episode 1 will, however, overhaul The Division 2‘s skills and how they interact with Skill mods. You can read more about what has changed with Skill Mods over on The Division 2‘s subreddit.

While Title Update 5 and Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts will arrive on the PTS for PC, there’s no current release date for either. I guess that will depend on how the testing goes.
