Motion Blur has become more and more common in video games, especially games where there is a lot of fast paced movement. Motion Blur is added to video games in order to make the game feel more realistic and tends to make the overall game feel a bit smoother. This isn’t always the case though and when it comes to Final Fantasy XVI, the only thing that Motion Blur has done for the community is leaving gamers feeling sick.

What is Motion Blur and how to turn it off in Final Fantasy XVI?

Motion Blur is described as a blurred image that is created with the images on your screen when something fast paced happen in the video game. This can be seen a lot in racing video games or any video game where the camera moves really quick. In Final Fantasy XVI, Motion Blur occurs when there is fast action in scenes. This is to make it more natural to the human eye and to replicate the way humans perceive images.

While it is nice to try and make an experience realistic, this type of feature isn’t always for every type of gamer. Some players have reported that the Motion Blur in Final Fantasy XVI is making gamers nauseas to the point where they have to go to the bathroom to throw-up. For other gamers, it is causing massive headaches because the blur is simply just too much. The reason why this happens to some gamers is because the brain can’t always process those blurry images for hours on end. After a while, looking at blurry images repeatedly over and over again can stress on the brain. That is why if you are someone who is affected by this Motion Blur sickness, it is probably a good idea to shut it off.

Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off Motion Blur in Final Fantasy XVI. Normally if a game features Motion Blur, there is usually a way to turn it off in the settings. Final Fantasy XVI doesn’t currently have that option available.

This is one of the biggest issues that Square Enix is facing at the moment. The last thing they want is to lose player time because they are getting sick from one aspect of their game. The Final Fantasy community has made this issue loud and clear and I would not be surprised to see an option to turn off Motion Blur added in the very near future.

How to reduce Motion Blur in Final Fantasy XVI

While there is no way to eliminate Motion Blur permanently, there is a way to reduce Motion Blur for the meantime.

If you open the options menu and navigate to the “Settings,” you will find a setting that says “Graphic Settings.” You are going to want to change the default “Game Performance” option and change it to the “Frame Rate” option. This can be done at any point in the game.

By making this change the visuals will be slightly downgraded, but the Motion Blur will also be reduced. This is only a temporary fix. Once Square Enix makes the move to add an off button to Motion Blur, you can once again switch your Graphic Settings back to “Game Performance.” It won’t completely get rid of Motion Blur, but hopefully you won’t feel as nauseous either.
