Dead Space Remake: How to beat game using only Plasma Cutter
There are a lot of collectibles to find in the Dead Space Remake and there are also a lot of Achievements/Trophies to be unlocked as well. If you are looking to max out the game to its full potential, you are going to most likely dive into a few playthroughs at the very least. This will include multiple runs of just the normal story and even getting your feet wet with New Game Plus so that you can unlock the Dead Space Remake Secret Ending.
One of your playthroughs through the Dead Space Remake may be trying to complete the game using only the Plasma Cutter. You may be trying to accomplish this feat simply for an additional challenge or because you are trying to unlock the Achievement/Trophy “One Gun.” The “One Gun” Achievement/Trophy is simple. Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter. While this might sound a little hard, if you prepare accordingly, it won’t be as bad as you think.
Best strategy to complete the Dead Space Remake using only the Plasma Cutter
Firstly, you need to make sure you are playing on the easiest difficulty. There is no requirement on what difficulty you need to be playing on to get the Achievement/Trophy so playing on the easiest difficulty is a must. Work smarter, not harder.
The other great thing is the Plasma Cutter is the first weapon you unlock in the Dead Space Remake. Don’t let the early unlock on the Plasma Cutter fool you either. The Plasma Cutter is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, which is another reason why accomplishing this task won’t be too difficult.
Upgrades
If you really want to start shredding through Necromorphs, you are going to want to upgrade your Plasma Cutter. The first upgrade should be focused on damage. The higher the damage on the Plasma Cutter, the more Plasma Cutter ammo you can conserve on. You are going to have to find a lot of Power Nodes so that you can focus on your Upgrades. Upgrades are going to be your best friend when it comes to the Plasma Cutter because you won’t be spending your Power Nodes for upgrades on any other weapons.
The other thing you will want to upgrade is your RIG Suit. There are upgrades that will boost your health and armor and when you are only using the Plasma Cutter through an entire playthrough, the extra added health and armor will come in handy in many different encounters.
Sell other weapon ammo
The other weapon ammo that you come across in the Dead Space Remake will be worthless since you won’t be using any other weapon other than the Plasma Cutter. However, you can get the most out of the weak ammo by selling it to get Credits so you can get even more Power Nodes to help with your upgrades.
As long as you don’t fire another weapon, you will still be eligible to get the “One Gun” Achievement/Trophy. This does mean that you can still melee and use Kinesis to kill enemies. If you see an opportunity to use your melee or Kinesis to get yourself an extra kill, take advantage of it. Melee or Kinesis don’t count as another weapon.
After you follow these few tips, there really isn’t much more to do other than play your style of game. This is a marathon, not a sprint. As long as you are on the easiest difficulty, this shouldn’t really be a problem to complete at all. After you complete the Dead Space Remake using the Plasma Cutter, you will have more respect for the weapon, as you truly see how powerful this iconic weapon can be with some upgrades.
