Do you ever think back at some of the great video game consoles and remember how amazing their controllers were? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t, but a bad controller can be the demise of any video game console. One of the greatest controllers that Nintendo has ever created was the controller for their GameCube console back in 2001. Many gamers fell in love with the design and comfortability and still enjoy it to this day. NYXI has announced that they are creating a new Nintendo Switch controller and the design is extremely similar to the old GameCube controller.

Being called the NYXI Wizard, the new Nintendo Switch third-party controller is based on the original GameCube controller. The controller has the same button layout with the addition of a couple of new features to make sure that it is compatible with the Nintendo Switch.

One of the biggest features is the customizability of the NYXI Wizard. This controller comes apart into two joy cons so that they attach onto both sides of the Nintendo Switch, something that wasn’t ever possible with the original GameCube controller. The big customization factor comes in, in that you can remap a couple of buttons on the back to however you would like. The joysticks can also be changed out depending on the game you are playing to make it more comfortable or to give you a better advantage with better grip on the joysticks.

However, there is a big claim that NYXI is making that has become the biggest selling point for this controller. NYXI is stating that the NYXI Wizard has been built to where the joysticks will never develop a drift in their lifetime. The technology behind this driftless controller is called the Hall Effect. The Hall Effect joysticks are designed in a way that the components inside the NYXI Wizard never physically touch the sensors and therefore would never develop a drift over time.

One of the most annoying things that a gamer has to deal with is having drift on their analog sticks on their controllers. After a year or two, controllers start to wear out and there is a high chance that the controller starts to develop drift with the joysticks. This makes video games very hard to play in certain circumstances and you don’t really get the full gaming potential that you should. Once your controller develops drift, it is off to the store so that you can buy a brand-new controller and that is happening only after a year or so. The fact that NYXI is claiming that this controller would never develop drift, can be a dealbreaker for some gamers and a huge feature that many gamers look for in a controller.

If you are looking to purchase an NYXI Wizard, you can do so for the price of $69.99. $69.99 is right in the ballpark for new Joy-Cons anyway and actually may be cheaper in some instances. Obviously, when it comes to games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, having that GameCube style controller will come in handy. However, if you are playing games such as NBA 2K23 on your Nintendo Switch, you may find it easier to use regular Joy-Cons. The beauty of it all is that you can own both types of Joy-Cons.

If you are interested in purchasing an NYXI Wizard controller for your Nintendo Switch, you can head on over the NYXI’s official website to get your hands on one of these. I have a feeling that if what NYXI is claiming turns out to stay true, this third-party controller may very well take over the Nintendo Switch community.
