Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: New Bounty game mode explained

Call of Duty video games have always had a main focus on their multiplayer. While the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign can give you a lot of entertainment, most of the gamers who play the game loves to play their multiplayer playlist. Infinity Ward announced on Twitter that their new Bounty game mode is now available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and the game mode puts a unique twist on TDM.

The new Bounty game mode has the same goal as TDM, get as many kills as possible so you can help your team win the match. However, Bounty adds a new twist to TDM as there is a bounty that is put on the leader of each team. That means that in each match there will be two bounties going on at the same time. If you have the most kills on your team, you will be marked for death with the bounty and that will make the enemy team more inclined to seek out and kill you. If you can successfully wipe out the opposition’s bounty, it will grant your team extra points to help you win.

We have seen many different game modes cycled throughout the Call of Duty multiplayer playlist over the course of the entire franchise. However, bounty is something that is brand-new and gives one of the most iconic multiplayer game modes in the Call of Duty franchise, Team Deathmatch, a fresh new twist. It makes it so you never feel like you are really out of any match.

In Team Deathmatch, if you have a 20-kill lead over the opposing team, you are sitting pretty as you assume your team is going to hold on for the win. However, if you are losing in Bounty by a decent margin and you can seek out the leading Bounty for those extra points, your team is very much well right back into the thick of things.

The other aspect that Bounty will bring into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is that it will also hinder the top players on the opposite team from racking up tons of killstreaks. More people are going to go after the bounty, so it will be harder for players to try and get some higher up killstreaks or even the MGB Nuke.

I will go ahead and assume that Bounty is not going to be a permanent game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, if this game mode gets a lot of positive praise and Infinity Ward notices that a lot of people have been playing it, this can very well be a staple in the future. If Bounty doesn’t get a lot of traffic and many gamers are overlooking the game mode as a whole, at least it was something new and Call of Duty didn’t just stick with the same old game modes each and every year.
