Elden Ring kicked off 2022 with an absolute bang. With so many secrets to uncover, powerful weapons to discover, and such a large area to explore, there was really something special brewing with this game. FromSoftware’s newest video game completely took over the gaming community by storm and got 9.5/10 or 10/10 reviews from mostly anywhere you look. With a chance to take home the Game of the Year award, Elden Ring doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

For quite a bit of time, gamers have been speculating that there would be a DLC to come to Elden Ring at some point. Rumors has swirled around the community and these rumors have now turned fact. FromSoftware confirmed that the Colosseum DLC will be debuting in Elden Ring starting December 7.

What the Colosseum DLC will have to offer and its price

The Colosseum DLC is going to add even more content into Elden Ring which is great. The even greater thing about the Colosseum DLC is that it will be completely FREE to all players. Throughout The Lands Between, there have been various colosseums scattered around. These Colosseums, at the time, have been just around for show. Located in Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid, these Colosseums were nothing more than more aesthetics for players to look at in the surroundings. This is all going to change starting December 7.

The colosseums in Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid will all now be accessible, and you will be able to do battle at these locations with other players. From the looks of the Colosseum DLC trailer, you will be able to do solo battles or team battles, given Elden Ring a PVP aspect with a little bit more formality.

As far as what players will get out of these duels and battles is yet to be known. There are also no details on how many PVP modes will be added to the Colosseum Battles. Many fans have been wanting more PVP to come into this game and that is exactly what they are being given. It should also be noted that there may be some other parts of this update that FromSoftware hasn’t yet revealed to the community and will be revealed with the update once it is live.

It is great to see FromSoftware utilize some of The Lands Between that hasn’t yet been used before. It is also great that they aren’t going to make players pay for this type of additional content.

Interestingly enough, the 2022 Game Awards kick off on December 8, one day after the Colosseum DLC is released. Voting for the 2022 Game Awards is still open. Could this be a last-ditch effort to try and get Elden Ring a few more votes at this year’s Game Awards? It surely can be, especially since God of War Ragnarok is going to give Elden Ring a run for its money for the 2022 Game of the Year.

Regardless, Elden Ring is going to win its fair share of awards this year. FromSoftware continues to deliver in many different ways when it comes to their prized game and this Colosseum DLC is going to give gamers in the community even more reasons to play more Elden Ring this year and into next year. With how much success 2022 has brought Elden Ring, this surely won’t be the last DLC that makes its way into this masterpiece.
