Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours for GameStop, Target, Walmart and Best Buy
First off, happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. And for those who use today as a shopping day, well, you’ve come to the right place.
Thanksgiving weekend, more specifically Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days of the holiday season. It’s also the time when you can find some of the best deals in gaming. Whether it’s consoles, video games or accessories, most retailers are running massive sales.
Black Friday has changed drastically over the past few years. Whereas it used to only be the day after Thanksgiving, there was a time when retailers sought to get a leg up on the competition and actually open on Thanksgiving night. But consumer backlash coupled with the rise of internet shopping and even the pandemic led to retailers cutting back their Black Friday hours. Now most of them remain closed on Thanksgiving, which means you’ll have to do your shopping online or go out on Friday. In some cases, retailers simply offer holiday sales throughout the entire month of November.
But if you’re like me and enjoy the hustle and bustle of Black Friday shopping — please, no riots, though — then here are the important hours you’ll need to know for the retailers selling Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo products.
GameStop
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: Hours may vary but it seems most GameStop locations will open at 5:00 a.m. local time. There is also a massive Black Friday sale on the GameStop website.
Best Buy
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: Almost all stores will be open at 5:00 a.m. on Black Friday although a few Best Buy stores in shopping malls will have a later opening time.
Target
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: Hours may vary but Target should open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. Target actually launched its online Black Friday sale back in October. It’s also offering what I feel is the best holiday deal for the Xbox Series S.
Walmart
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: Walmart has offered Black Friday deals since early November online but store locations should open at 5:00 a.m. on Black Friday.
Costco
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Kohl’s
- Thanksgiving: Closed
- Black Friday: Kohl’s will open at 5:00 a.m. although the retailer has Black Friday deals running online.
As you can see, most retailers have opted to remain closed on Thanksgiving which I think we can all agree is a good thing. So rest up because Friday is going to be a busy shopping day.
