Every year, retailers move up the date of Black Friday and even extend the length. What used to be a single day after Christmas to get the best discounts of the holiday season has turned into weeks of shopping deals.

Last year, Target ramped up its Black Friday sale by starting it on October 31. New deals were introduced every week throughout the entire holiday season.

This year, the retailer is starting even earlier. Target has officially kicked off its 2022 Black Friday sale with major savings all season long. Weeklong Black Friday Deals and Deal of the Day savings are being offered in-store and on Target.com.

Naturally, we’re focused on video games and electronics deals. Right now, you can get up to 50 percent off on Xbox and PlayStation games. Games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Madden 23 and more are all discounted. Here are some of the current deals:

  • Grand theft Auto 5 (PS5, Xbox Series X): $19.99 [reg. $34.99-$39.99]
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS5, Xbox Series X): $24.99 [reg. $59.99]
  • Madden NFL 23 (PS5, Xbox Series X): $49.99 [reg. $69.99]
  • Madden NFL 23 (PS4, Xbox One): $39.99 [reg. $59.99]
  • WWE 2K22 (PS5, Xbox Series X): $34.99 [reg. $69.99]
  • Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PS5): $29.99 [reg. $49.99]
  • Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (PS4, Xbox One): $29.99 [reg. $59.99]
  • Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) – $49.99 [reg. $69.99]
  • Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) – $49.99 [reg. $69.99]

This is just a small sample of all the games you can find discounted right now. Other games on sale include Borderlands 3, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection and more for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.

The savings are about on par with what we see every year. New-gen games for PS5 and Xbox Series X are mostly discounted by about $20 from their regular price. You can find better deals on older titles, of course.

I’m not seeing any console discounts right now, but it is possible that bundles for the PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch could be offered closer to the actual Black Friday day. I wouldn’t expect huge savings given the supply chain issues and high demand, but it’s possible we could get a game thrown in.

I can’t imagine the games will be further discounted as the holiday season goes on but Target is offering a Holiday Price Match Guarantee. With this guarantee, you can shop at any time between October 6 through December 24 with the promise that you can receive additional savings if the Target price is lowered later in the season.
