Animal Crossing: New Horizons got its 2.0 Update and there is an obscene amount of things in it to do and discover. You can cook, set up a coffee shop in your museum, unlock all the shops on Harv’s Island, play with the new Pro Camera, collect and grow Gyroids, and so many other things.

With all that going on, you may have missed some of the smaller details of the update. Don’t worry, we got you. Let’s get into four things you may have completely overlooked with Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update.

Basic Cooking Recipes

Did you head over to the City Hall and download the DIY upgrade that allows you to cook? Of course you did. I bet you ran right over. But did you know you can straight up double the amount of recipes you can make right now? Yup.

Head on over to Nook’s Cranny and now that you’ve upgraded your DIY business you’ll see a new cookbook in there. Selecting that will give you a slew of new recipes. Though, unless you’re one of those pesky time travelers, the only thing you can make out of those recipes is the seaweed soup which requires two seaweeds.

Shimmy

Now, I don’t normally have furniture this close normally but for the sake of the picture, I threw some extra desks into my office. One of the more subtle features added in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 Update was the ability to shimmy between two objects. This is awesome for things like sofas in front of tables and things like that so you don’t need to put six feet between seat and coffee table.

It’s not a huge thing but it also means you can make your design a bit more compact.

Special Filters

Listen, I know you’re having fun walking around town with your new Pro Camera. I don’t blame you. The thing is amazing. Especially when it lets you see your town from a first-person perspective for the first time.

What you may not have noticed is that they added new filters. While the camera has always had sepia and monochrome filters if you keep cycling you’ll find new ones like ones that make everything look like security camera footage or a painting, or my new favorite, the fish-eye lens. With people like the above Coco on my island, the fish-eye lens is an absolute joy.

Museum Posters

This one caught me completely off guard. If you have a section of your museum completed, Blathers will now sell you a special poster celebrating that fact. For example, the one shown here is the only one I can buy, sadly, as the only part of my museum I completed is the fossil exhibit. But look at how good it looks. You can also buy multiple copies of any poster meaning you can decorate with these as you see fit.

While we’re here, can we talk about how damn good the textures look up close with the Pro Camera? I thought the paintings were going to be a blocking nightmare up close and they are so so so pretty.

Anywho, hope you’re all enjoying the 2.0 update. I can’t wait to discover more weird things. If you find anything, let us know.
