If you’ve been following the Madden NFL 22 social channels, you probably noticed some very interesting posts recently. On Twitter, for example, there were multiple screenshots of NFL players in their old college uniforms.

There was Tyrann Mathieu in an LSU uniform, Kyle Pitts in a Gators uniform, Tee Higgins in a Clemson uniform and a few others. Now, it’s possible that these images could’ve just been posted to celebrate the start of College Football. But, it appears there’s something deeper than that… something bigger.

For instance, the CeeDee Lamb screenshot in an Oklahoma uniform was accompanied by “Big things are coming.” And I don’t think EA meant his upcoming performance for the Cowboys this year.

As it turns out, these images could be hinting towards a new Campus Mode that seems to have been prematurely spoiled by USC alum Reggie Bush. In a now deleted Instagram post, Bush, the former Madden 08 cover star, was posing in a photo alongside Matt Leinart and Vince Young at the Rose Bowl. His post added:

"“Thank you to [EA] for bringing Me, Matt, and Vince back to the Rose Bowl to play the new [Madden NFL] Campus Mode where you can play with some legendary college football teams and players! Warning to all punters don’t kick that ball to #5.”"

It would seem that Madden 22 is getting ready to add this new Campus Mode into the live game. And an official announcement could be made tomorrow.

EA tweeted the following teaser today:

It would seem that this rematch of the classic 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas will be featured within Madden 22. Towards the end, we hear Leinart say: “Three minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, a close game. And this man right here [Vince Young] is getting the ball.”

For anyone unfamiliar with how that game played out, Vince Young led the Texas Longhorns on a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to defeat USC 41-38 in the Rose Bowl – BCS National Championship game. There were several pivotal moments in that final drive which was capped by a fourth-down touchdown run from Young. It was an incredible game, to say the least, and an instant college football classic.

It would appear as though Madden 22 will allow you to replay that final drive of the game along with other classic college football games (or moments from those games). Based on some of the other images, it looks like you could also play the 2018 National Championship Game between Clemson and Alabama.

Whatever Campus Mode is, it will probably be revealed during tomorrow, August 31. Tune in at 7:00 p.m. for the highly anticipated rematch and we’ll be sure to fill you in with any details we learn about this supposed mode. With EA already announcing the return of its College Football video game franchisewhich likely won’t launch until 2023 — something like Campus Mode would serve as a nice holdover.
