Madden 22: 80-man roster update reflects latest cuts and trades

Earlier this week, NFL teams trimmed their roster size to 80 players. Some of these changes are now reflected in Madden 22 as EA just released a roster update last night.

Unfortunately, the Madden 22 player database doesn’t quite reflect the changes that were made in this update; however, the Madden community has come together to put together a list of some of the roster changes.

Among the notable changes in this latest update are quarterback Josh Rosen signing with the Atlanta Falcons. The 24-year-old, former first-round draft pick has bounced around the league and was recently cut from the 49ers. With A.J. McCarron moved to the Reserve/Injured list, the Falcons were in need of a suitable backup replacement. Operation Sports has a good rundown of other roster moves in the update.

Beyond player signings and releases, there were two trades made, both of which are now reflected in Madden 22. nfl dThe New England Patriots traded running back Sony Michel to the Los Angeles Rams for two draft picks, while the Carolina Panthers traded linebacker Denzel Perryman and a 2022 seventh-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2022 sixth-round pick.

One notable trade not reflected in the game is the one involving quarterback Gardner Minshew. The fan-favorite underdog quarterback was traded from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2022.

EA has been pretty on top of the NFL’s roster moves, at least more-so then I remember in recent years. Usually, a lot of these changes are featured in the massive Week 1 update, which is done after teams make their final roster cuts and trim down from 80 to 53 players.

The final roster cut will follow the third week of the preseason with teams having until 4:00 p.m. ET on August 31 to finalize their 53-man rosters. Usually, these changes aren’t made in Madden 22 until the Week 1 roster update, which usually arrives ahead of the Thursday night Opening Kickoff game.
