The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim first released in November 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The game’s three DLC add-ons — Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn — were released separetly between 2012 and 2013. And over the years, the critically acclaimed game has seen numerous re-releases.

In 2016, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition was released for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It featured all three expansions and a graphical upgrade. In 2017, a VR-only version of the game was released for PS4, and in 2018 for Windows. In 2017, the game came to Nintendo Switch.

It’s become a running joke that whenever a new console is launched, Skyrim will come to it. It’s the game that refuses to die.

And sure enough, 10 years after Skyrim’s release, Bethesda is readying to release The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. It’s set to release on November 11, 2021 — the game’s actual 10-year anniversary — for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5.

This Anniversary Edition really just a bundle that features the full game and all three expansions with all the enhancements found in the Special Edition, plus over 500 unique pieces of content from Creation Club. This includes quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons, spells and more.

Another re-release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim might seem unnecessary but when you think about its age, ten years, it’s quite possible that many of today’s gamers may have never actually played it. Someone who is, say, 15 years old today, was only five years old when the game originally launched. They are about to reach an entire new generation of gamers. And to be honest, the game has held up incredibly well over the years. It remains one of the best open-world RPGs available.
