In the modern day video game era, it is more common that when a video game is released there is more than one version you can choose from. The more expensive versions of a game indicates the more additional content that you will receive. This is very common in the sports world. As such, NHL 22 will feature two different versions that you can purchase and each of them have unique bonuses with the more expensive of the two offering more than the other.

NHL 22: Standard Edition

For purchasing the NHL 22 Standard Edition you will be granted a few bonuses. Those bonuses are there to help you progress through various modes in the game so you don’t have to start at the bare minimum. Here is a list of every bonus you will receive for purchasing the Standard Edition of NHL 22.

  • Up to 2 HUT Diamond Player Choice Packs (1 per month for 2 months)
  • 5 World of Chel X-Factor Zone Ability Unlocks
  • 2 Be A Pro X-Factor Slot Unlocks, XP Boost, and Bonus Trait Points
  • 1 Unlocked Hockey Bag

As you can tell it isn’t a ton of extra bonuses, but something is better than nothing. EA doesn’t have to offer anything addition with the purchase of the game so every little bit helps. If you plan on buying the Standard Edition on the current gen consoles, the price is the usual $59.99. If you plan on buying the Standard Edition on the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, the price jumps up slightly to $69.99.

NHL 22: X-Factor Edition

For purchasing the NHL 22: X-Factor Edition you will be granted quite a few more bonuses. You will also get to play the game three days earlier than everyone else. A little more incentive if you are willing to pay a little bit more money. Here is a list of every bonus you will receive for purchasing the X-Factor Edition of NHL 22.

There is significantly more bonuses that you get with the X-Factor Edition along with 3 days of early access, but you have to pay a significant amount of extra money. The NHL 22: X-Factor Edition will cost $99.99, but will also feature dual entitlement. Dual entitlement allows you to play NHL 22 on the next gen consoles along with the current gen consoles without losing any of your progress. The Standard Edition does not offer dual entitlement. Something else that you may want to consider.

Each edition has its pros and cons along with each individual price point. Depending on how much money that you would like to spend and what game modes that you play, it may be worth it to buy the more expensive version of the game. If the $99.99 doesn’t seem too worth it or is out of your budget the Standard Edition still gives you all the same features as the X-Factor Edition minus the early access and additional bonuses.
