Xbox Series X new games August 2021: Hades, Psychonauts 2 and more

July marked the start of what I believe to be a busy second half of the year for Xbox Series X in terms of new games. We got Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Ascent, both of which have been very well received.

But as we turn the calendar page, there’s even more to look forward to in the month of August, including three games that will be released day one on Xbox Game Pass.

The most anticipated game for many will most likely be Hades. The award-winning action-adventure from Supergiant Games will make its Xbox Series X|S (and Xbox One) debut on August 13. In the game, you control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld and reach Mount Olympus. Hades received glowing reviews and received several awards and honors, including Best Indie and Best Action at The Game Awards 2020. Not only is Hades coming to Xbox, but it will be free for Xbox Game Pass members.

12 Minutes is another intriguing game set to arrive next month. An interactive thriller about a man trapped in a time loop, Twelve Minutes, from Annapurna Interactive, stars James Mcavoy, Daisy Ridley and Willem Dafoe. In the game, you play as a husband stuck in a twelve-minute time loop, reliving the same horrific event repeatedly while trying to solve the mystery. Twelve Minutes will make its debut as an Xbox Game Pass launch day title.

The third game coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch next month is Psychonauts 2. A sequel to the hit 2005 game, Psychonauts 2 is a third-person platformer in which you explore the mental worlds of character.
