Madden 22: Packers WR Davante Adams joins 99 Club with perfect rating

Madden 22 Ratings Week continued today, with the reveal of the first member in 99 Club. For those unfamiliar, 99 Club is the prestigious group of players who are rated 99 overall, the highest possible rating in Madden.

Kicking things off for 99 Club isn’t Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It isn’t even fellow cover athlete Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Nope, the first member of 99 Club is Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. As a member of 99 Club, Adams will begin Madden 22 with a launch rating of 99 overall. And it’s honesty well deserved.

I had Adams pegged as a 99 Club member to begin with, so obviously I agree with the rating. The 28-year-old receiver delivered one of his best seasons last year, recording 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns.

Can he do it again? I suppose that depends on what’s going on at the quarterback position. We all know the drama surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers and whether or not he’ll return to the team.

The dynamic duo recently posted photos from The Last Dance, a documentary that chronicled Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s last season with the Chicago Bulls. Perhaps that suggests this will be both players’ last season in Green Bay. So maybe they go out with a bang and Adams matches or improves upon his stats from last season.

EA updates player ratings weekly depending on their performance on the field in real life. Adams actually began last season with a 94 overall rating at launch before joining 99 Club in Week 16. Interestingly, DeAndre Hopkins, who was also in 99 Club in Madden 21 at the end of last season, begins Madden 22 with a 98 overall. I suspect it will only be a matter of weeks before he’s invited back into the prestigious club.
