GTA 6: Reported release date is way too far away for gamers

Grand Theft Auto 6, or GTA 6 if you prefer it, has been around the rumor mill for the past handful of years now. The anticipation for this game is already at an all-time high and Rockstar hasn’t even officially announced it.

GTA V was the most recent released game in the main franchise and that launched all the way back September 17, 2013. That game has been around for 8 years now and despite the ups and the downs that it experienced early on, it actually turned out to be a huge success thanks especially to GTA Online.

Eight years and counting is the longest gap there has ever been between Grand Theft Auto games. The previous longest gap in the franchise was five years between Grand Theft Auto IV and V.

We are due for a new Grand Theft Auto game and many think the new title will be GTA 6. Unfortunately, it seems the wait may be even longer.

A new report from Tom Henderson states that the earliest GTA 6 will release is 2025. For those who aren’t familiar with Tom Henderson, he has leaked plenty of other news about Call of Duty and Battlefield that turned out to be true. He most recently leaked information about Battlefield 2042’s redacted mode, which is believed to be called Battlefield Hub. While anything can change over the course of multiple years, his reports are usually more true then not.

Tom Henderson created a YouTube video on GTA 6 stating that the game would not be released until 2025 so that it can give Rockstar staff all the freedom they need to create the game. He also goes on to state how the map can potentially change over time in a way that Battle Royale maps change. This would indeed be an interesting aspect to add into a Grand Theft Auto game.

This reports by Tom Henderson lines up with several other rumors about GTA 6. If GTA 6 is released in 2025 that would mark a 12 year gap in between games in the franchise. I personally think that waiting that long is not the best idea and a game can be developed way sooner, but I get that they want to make the perfect game with no extra rush. And Rockstar is known for making us wait.

Given how well GTA V has done over the last eight years, Rockstar is able to take their time because the amount of revenue GTA V is still pulling in. Gamers might not be happy about the long awaited release date, but when GTA 6 is actually announced and released the feeling of picking up the new game will be like no other. If GTA V hasn’t had the success that it has had over the past eight years, a sooner release date on GTA 6 might have been in the cards.

Whether or not the news of the 2025 release date makes you upset, we really do not have much of a choice but to wait until we get more of a confirmation. If a 2025 release date is the target for Rockstar Games, hopefully they at least release some sort of tease over the next year or two to at least hype up the game.
