Earlier this year, we got our first look at Aliens: Fireteam Elite, a cooperative third-person shooter set within the Alien universe. Originally slated for a summer release, it was confirmed today that the game will launch on August 24, 2021.
Accompanying the release date announcement were pre-order details for its two editions. First, you’ve got your basic standard edition of the game which is available at a budget-friendly price of just $39.99. This includes access to the four unique campaigns which you will be able to play through as your fully customizable Colonial Marine.
I was cautiously optimistic when Aliens: Fireteam was first announced and this price point isn’t indicative of another experience like Dark Alliance: Dungeons & Dragons. That’s probably not a totally fair comparison to make and hopefully the price is simply more representative of something more in line with what EA has done with its smaller titles, which is have the price be reflective of the scope of the game.
There’s also the Aliens: Fireteam Elite Deluxe Edition. This is available for $69.99 and includes the Endeavor Pass and Endeavor Veteran Pack. The Endeavor Pass is a bundle of four cosmetic DLC packages featuring class kit skins, weapon colors, head accessories and more. These will release alongside free major gameplay updates presumably within the game’s first year. The Endeavor Veteran Pack features over 20 cosmetic items as well. Both Packs will be available for purchase separately.

Simply pre-ordering the game, regardless of which version, will get you the Hardened Marine Pack. This is another cosmetic pack that includes a Bandana head accessory, Red Digital Camo weapon colors, three weapon decals and a “Chestburster” joke emote.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is designed as a cooperative shooter but can also be played solo with AI teammates. You’ll play through four unique campaigns, facing off against waves of Xenomorph and Weyland-Yutani Synthetics. Although Aliens: Fireteam Elite is launching with four individual campaigns, I do wonder if more will be added if the game is successful.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be playable on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.
