Guardians of the Galaxy video game reportedly in development at Square Enix

I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. Did you catch all that? If you did then you happened to know that I said there is a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy video game reportedly in development at Square Enix.

I said “brand new” because we have already got a taste of a Guardians of the Galaxy video game when Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series came out back in April of 2017. While it was a Guardians of the Galaxy video game, it wasn’t the type of video game that people wanted it to be.

The Telltale Series video games are all basically like a “choose your own adventure” type of game. While there are people who love games like that, Square Enix tends to make games with more flexibility and longer playability. Square Enix is reportedly developing this new Guardians of the Galaxy video game and the hope is that it gets better reviews than the most recent Marvel’s Avengers video game developed by Crystal Dynamics.

The Marvel’s Avengers video game has gotten mixed reviews, but Square Enix definitely had the right idea with the type of video game that was created. It would have been a lot cooler if the Avengers characters had similar voices to the actors in the MCU, but some of the voices were way off and seemed a little cheesy.

Now that Square Enix has had experience with creating a Marvel video game, they can bring that experience and any new advice that has been given and craft a Guardians of the Galaxy masterpiece or at least we hope so. Square Enix has created a lot of great video games throughout the years so there is definitely potential for this new game to really hit the mark.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has definitely dominated the entertainment industry over the past 13+ years and with the announcement of all these Marvel TV shows and future movies coming out, that dominance doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. In fact, they are just getting started.

With how wildly popular Marvel has become this past decade and a half, there is a lot of pressure on Square Enix to make a game that does better in ratings then the Marvel’s Avengers video game. After all, Square Enix did take a whopping $63 million dollar loss on Marvel’s Avengers so we can only hope that they have learned from their past mistakes.

While there has been no official confirmation from Square Enix themselves on a Guardians of the Galaxy video game, the buzz around these reports seem like they are more true than false. If these reports are true then maybe we can even see a sneak peek at this new video game at this year’s E3 press conference. Whenever the big reveal finally does end up happening, it will surely spark massive amounts of conversation.
