PS Plus: Here are your free PlayStation Plus games for June
It’s hard to believe that we’re already nearing the start of another new month. May has absolutely flown by and a big part of that was it was one of the busiest months of the year in terms of new game releases.
In addition to new releases such as Resident Evil Village, Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Knockout City, PlayStation Plus members also received Wreckfest, Stranded Deep and Battlefield 5. That’s not a bad batch of free games.
But June’s free PS Plus games might top that.
On PlayStation, we’re getting Operation: Tango, a cooperative spy adventure in which you and a buddy can complete dangerous missions across the globe in a “high-tech near-future world.” Play as either a Hacker or Agent as you work in tandem to overcome asymmetrical challenges.
What’s really cool about this game is that you can’t see what the other player is doing. You must work together using only your voice, so communication is key.
Although Operation: Tango supports cross-play between PS4 and PS5, only the PlayStation 5 is free through PlayStation Plus next month.
We’re also getting two PlayStation 4 games as well.
Making its PS4 exclusive debut is Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, an updated version of the 2006 arcade classic that was also eventually ported to PS3 and Xbox 360. The game features updated visuals, new background music and new online features like spectator mode, lobbies for up to 16 players, and tournament options.

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will also be free for PS Plus in July, so it will be available to subscribers until August 2. It’s unclear if it’ll be taking one of the month’s free spots, or if we’ll also be getting three new games next month.
The game I’m most excited for, however, is Star Wars: Squadrons. EA’s multiplayer star fighting combat game puts you in the cockpit of some of the most iconic ships in Star Wars. While the primary focus of Star Wars: Squadrons is on engaging multiplayer dogfighting, there is an engaging single-player story that is set after the Return of the Jedi and offers the perspective of both the New Republic and Empire.
All of these games will be available on Tuesday, June 1 and will be available to PS Plus members until Monday, July 5. As a reminder, you also have until May 31 to add Battlefield 5, Stranded Deep and Wreckfest to your library.
