Xbox Games with Gold free games for May 2021 announced
A new month is approaching which means a fresh batch of free games for those who are Xbox LIVE Gold members. After a lackluster April lineup, May’s is actually pretty decent. It’s lacking the heavy-hitting blockbuster, but this is still a solid lineup.
Kicking things off on May 1 will be Armello, a grim fairytale-themed digital board game that combines RPG elements with the strategy and tactics of card and tabletop games. Armello first released back in 2015 and I immediately fell in love with it. It’s got surprisingly deep gameplay mechanics and your quest for the throne will be an epic one, no doubt.
Also arriving on May 1 is LEGO Batman. The LEGO games are your typical kid-friendly action adventures. In this one, you play as Batman and his sidekick Robin, along with a massive cast of supporting heroes and villains, as you tear through Gotham City brick by brick.
Dungeons 3 will be available between May 16 and June 15. This is a dungeon-building, real-time strategy game in which you command the forces of evil under the guidance of the dark elf Thalya in an attempt to overthrow the do-gooders of the overworld.
The final game for May will be Tropico 4, available between May 16 and May 31. As El Presidente, you are the ruler of a small island nation. In this strategy simulation, your decisions will shape the future of your nation as you deal with foreign political powers and the needs and desires of your own citizens.

As usual, all four games part of the Games with Gold lineup will be playable across the Xbox family of consoles. These are all older titles, but you can still play them on Xbox Series X|S as well as on Xbox One.
As I mentioned, it’s a solid lineup of free games, but I’d probably have to give the edge to PlayStation Plus next month, which will see members get Battlefield V for free alongside Wreckfest and Stranded Deep.
