Capcom has a multiplatform demo planned for Resident Evil Village ahead of the game’s May 7th launch, but the details and schedule are a bit confusing. Although the demo is available for multiple platforms, PlayStation owners get exclusive early access to various parts of it ahead of time. It’s all a bit confusing but here’s a simple breakdown.

‘Village’ Demo (PlayStation exclusive)

The Village demo is available exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 starting on April 17 at 5:00 p.m. PT. It will be available until April 18 until 4:00 a.m. PT, so there’s not a huge window of opportunity. It will be a 30-minute demo that drops you into the snow-covered mountains of a titular village and gives you a decent taste of the game’s combat. Here are the times:

  • North America: April 17 @ 5pm to April 18 @ 1am (Pacific Time)
  • Europe: April 18 @ 7pm to April 19 @ 3am CEST
  • Asia: April 18 @ 5pm – April 19 @ 1am HKT

‘Castle’ Demo (PlayStation Exclusive)

A second PlayStation-exclusive demo is also planned for next weekend. This demo will also be a 30-minute slice of the game that takes you into the halls of Castle Dimitrescu for a “bloody good time.” This seems to have more of an emphasis on the horror aspect of Resident Evil Village, as the Castle halls are narrow and cramped, providing numerous opportunities for jump scares. The Castle demo will also run for a limited time on PS4 and PS5, available during the following time:

  • North America: April 24 @ 5pm to April 25 @ 1am (Pacific Time)
  • Europe: April 25 @ 7pm to April 26 @ 3am CEST
  • Asia: April 25 @ 5pm to April 26 @ 1am HKT

Pre-loading for these demos PS4 and PS5 are available right now.

60-Minute Multiplatform Demo

More from App and Gaming News

The full 60-minute demo will arrive on all platforms — PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and Stadia — on May 1. It will be available for North America, South America and Latin America with preloading available starting on April 29 at 5:00 p.m. PT.

In this demo, you’ll have one hour to explore both the village and castle as you see fit. It sounds like the initial PlayStation demos won’t give you an opportunity to see everything, so the extra 60 minutes will be beneficial. Capcom mentions “dark secrets” hidden within these levels, so keep your eyes peeled. For Xbox, PC and Stadia gamers, this will be your only chance to preview these areas before the game launches on May 7th.
